Welcome to SomeAwesome. By accessing our website, participating in our rewards programs, or connecting to our hosted game servers (collectively, the "Services"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use our Services.

1. Eligibility and Accounts

  • Age Requirement: You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account.
  • Account Limits: Users are permitted only one (1) SomeAwesome account. This account must be linked to a single, valid Steam account. "Alting" or maintaining multiple accounts to manipulate reward systems is strictly prohibited and will result in a permanent ban.
  • Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

2. User Content and Conduct

  • Ownership & License: You retain ownership of the reviews and images you upload. However, by submitting content, you grant SomeAwesome a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, distribute, and display such content across our platform and marketing materials without revenue sharing or further compensation.
  • Prohibition of AI & Plagiarism: All reviews must be original works created by the user. Use of generative AI (e.g., ChatGPT) in any other capacity than translation to English and/or plagiarizing existing reviews (even if they are originally in another language) is strictly prohibited.
  • Review Standards: To be eligible for rewards, reviews need to hit a minimum quality threshold that is outlined in our page about How it Works. 

3. Virtual Currency and Economy (Points)

  • Nature of Points: SomeAwesome utilizes a virtual point system ("Points"). Points are not "money," have no real-world monetary value, and do not constitute property. They are a limited, non-transferable, revocable license to access certain rewards (such as game keys).
  • Algorithm and Value: SomeAwesome reserves the right to change Point values, alter the calculation algorithm, or modify how Steam metrics (review scores, retail price, etc.) weigh into your "Author Quality Value" at any time without notice.
  • Forfeiture: In the event of account termination due to a violation of these Terms (including AI abuse or fraud), all accumulated Points and pending redemptions are immediately and permanently forfeited.

4. Third-Party Integrations

  • Third-Party Platforms: Our Services integrate with third-party APIs including Steam, Twitch, Discord, Patreon, and YouTube. Your use of these integrations is subject to the respective terms and privacy policies of those third parties.
  • Liability Waiver: SomeAwesome is not responsible for the failure of third-party APIs. If a Twitch "drop" fails or a Discord "tier" sync error occurs due to third-party technical issues, SomeAwesome is not liable for any resulting loss of Points or access.

5. Hosted Servers and Community Spaces

  • MineConnect & Game Servers: Access to SomeAwesome-hosted servers (e.g., Minecraft, rental servers) is a privilege, not a right.
  • Code of Conduct: Users must comply with server-specific rules. Harassment, "griefing," or exploiting bugs on SomeAwesome-hosted servers will result in removal from the server and potential platform-wide suspension.
  • Assumption of Risk: You acknowledge that online gaming involves interactions with other users. SomeAwesome is not liable for the conduct of other players or any loss of in-game progress.

6. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) Policy

SomeAwesome respects intellectual property rights. If you believe your copyrighted work has been used on our platform without authorization, please submit a formal notification to our Designated Copyright Agent at: legal@someawesome.com. Your notice must include:

  1. A description of the copyrighted work.
  2. The exact URL of the infringing material on SomeAwesome.
  3. Your contact information.
  4. A statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and you are authorized to act.

7. Data Scraping and Privacy

  • Data Usage: To verify playtime and calculate Author Quality, we scrape data from the Steam API (including inventory, playtime, and achievement metrics). By linking your Steam account, you consent to this data collection.
  • Privacy Policy: Please review our Privacy Policy for detailed information on how we store and protect your data.

8. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

  • "As Is" Warranty: The Services are provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. SomeAwesome makes no warranties, express or implied, regarding the uptime, accuracy, or security of the platform.
  • Limitation of Liability: To the maximum extent permitted by law, SomeAwesome and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, including data breaches or loss of virtual rewards.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SomeAwesome from any claims, damages, or legal fees (including attorney's fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, specifically regarding the upload of stolen or infringing content (plagiarized text or copyrighted images).

10. Dispute Resolution and Arbitration

  • Mandatory Arbitration: Any dispute arising from these Terms will be resolved through individual, binding arbitration, rather than in court.
  • Class Action Waiver: You agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted only on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action.

11. Termination

SomeAwesome reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account at our sole discretion for any violation of these Terms or for conduct that we deem harmful to the community.
