Super Catboy

Catboy is a 2D action platformer with a strong inspiration to those from the 90s, accompany a cat on his adventure full of dogs in his quest to stop an invasion. Who is the leader? and Will he have a relationship with you?

About the story and settings
As an introduction we see an airship, filled with armed dogs, and our character (Catboy) in a vat, suddenly the ship promptly fall, shattering on the ground. Catboy wakes up and start fighting the military dogs until he meets an armed girl with whom he eventually team up to stop the army and their leader, a mad scientist.

As we chase him we will travel trough different locations: forests, mines, trains, mountains, etc. Overall the world-building and characters are interesting, although they are not fully developed as the story is not deep, with dialogues and interactions mostly funny being more an excuse to go to the action.
 

About the gameplay and mechanics
The game is purely action platformer, no puzzles nor gimmicks (but a pair of surprises), we will go trough every level running and beating our enemies.

About the mobility, we can also climb and dash, but the latter can be a bit tricky to dominate, and as for fighting we count with our paws for melee and a pistol for ranged attacks.

During the adventure we will face bosses and arenas to fights lot of enemies, but here you will find the biggest problem of the game, whenever you get hit, it doesn't provide you a time for invincibility, so you can get stun-locked and die easily.

Finally during each level you will find 4 pieces to collect and coins, the former is for extra lifes and both for a final score, making it replayable if you want to improve it.

Is it recommended?
Catboy is a good game with some flaws, the short length and the lack of invincibility frames is a problem but the action, platforming and the humor are good enough to be worth a try. You can complete it in 3 hours, more if you want to improve the scores.
