Starbound

Explore, build, and customize in a limitless universe.

Starbound review
I've spent quite a while playing this game, and I can now say without a doubt that this is an amazing space sandbox, which is really good for both experimentation and creativity. One may explore and discover a huge universe, with the never-ending variety of planets, alien civilizations, and structures that are among the main features included in this game, and which still keep the whole thing fresh and thrilling.

Gameplay & Content (9/10):
There is so much variety!! There is a ton of stuff to get distracted by in the game: Planet exploration, colony building, boss-fights, and ship and gear customization. The tiered progression system keeps you engaged and entices you to explore and craft your way through the universe. Combat is fine, but is not the focus, exploration and building are the shining aspect of the game.

Graphics (8/10):
The brilliant pixel art style is very beautiful and different. It goes well with the funny but large universe. Not state of the art, but still appealing and bringing back good memories.

Customization (10/10):
The game is exceptionally modifiable, enabling you to adjust almost everything action, visual, etc. This means Starbound could act as a creative and customizing playground.

Performance (7/10):
It is a stable system generally, with some neat features like multiplayer without ports. Some sub-systems could be more integrated, and the AI player crew tumbles down to 'plug in the work and I'll hold it until you need it'.

Pacing & Difficulty (7/10):
Sometimes the game appears to be slow-paced which is a factor that I appreciate; however, not everyone might share that opinion. The different difficulty levels provide options in this regard.

Starbound is an infinite, gorgeous space sandbox that is full of new discoveries, unlimited imagination, and modding potential. If you are a fan of creating your own universe and then exploring it, then this game is meant for you even though it is sometimes slow. Space adventures and sandbox building are the two areas where this game excels and hence you will fall in love with this game.

Score 8-cyber out of 10
