"SimCity 4 Deluxe" Review
Graphics & Aesthetics: 8/10
The graphics might be a bit dated, considering this game is already over 20 years old, but they are still surprisingly and almost unbelievably beautiful in their own right. It is a great pleasure to zoom in and out, to see the beautiful and tiny little details of the buildings, and to watch my city full of life. Even if it’s not modern 3D, it’s still somehow charming.
Gameplay & Depth: 9/10
The game is made representing simulation and creativity. Maps are enormous, and I am excited to take the challenge of managing complex city systems. We have a great modding community that offers so much variety and depth through customization.
Performance & Accessibility: 8/10
For an over 2 decade old game, all modern hardware should be able to run this game smoothly. However, this would also mean that features limited compared to more modern titles.
Longevity & Replayability: 9/10
You can easily get sucked in and lose track of time when building a city, spending hours micro managinh or just making beautiful skylines. Every new city is a brand new experience, and mods can make it even more interesting and lasting even longer.
Overall:
Even if it's a bit dated, "SimCity 4 Deluxe" is still my most preferred city builder. A good game never gets old, it is a perfect classic with profound gameplay, open creativity, and active community. For city sim fans, it's definitely a must-play.
Final Score: 8.5/10
