Cat Bait, a game that has been quite an amazing experience for me, let me express my opinion first of all. So in general, I would give it a very decent 7.5 out of 10. It is a game that offers a lot of fun especially if you are a cat lover or just a person who seeks light and funny time killers.
8 out of 10 is my rating for graphics. The pixel art is cute and simple, which I liked. It's not too detailed, but it feels like a cozy old game. The animations are pretty smooth, and I was smiling at the sweet cat designs. It is a pretty welcoming style to be honest, and it doesn't really require much of a good hardware to run this game.
The music was good, very surprisingly, and also pleasant and suitable for the game’s whimsical character. I would rate it 7.5 for the most part. I would not listen to it in my spare time, but it did affect the already calming atmosphere of the game very positively during the duration of it. I consider the presence of a good soundtrack to be a necessity for games of this type, which is precisely the reason why Cat Bait gets full marks.
Next is gameplay. That is where Cat Bait shows its skill as a fun killer of time. I would give the gameplay a score of 8 out of 10. The game spins around discovering, collecting, and avoiding dangers, all done with a soft, humorous, amusing twist. It's easy to learn but has enough going on to keep you interested. The game mechanics are easy to follow, which allows it to be suitable for one-minute play or several hours. I particularly liked finding out new features and getting the best methods to bait cats or steer clear of problems. It’s a game that favors the curious and inventive.
What I think would need improvement is the gameplay’s depth. It is very much a laid-back mannered experience, and for those who are looking for more intricacy or tactical options, it might be a little too simple. More abilities or passive skills could therefore add variety and create an option where players are able to tailor their play style, this is something I would love to see in the updates.
The replayability is not bad but rather than that, it would be better if there was more content or objectives. As it is, it’s a wonderful game that handles when I need a quick and pleasant distraction. I do not believe this game will keep me engaged for hundreds of hours, still, I will be more than happy to play it enough to justify its price and the fun moments.
The price feels right for what you get. If you can snag it on sale or in a bundle, it's really worth giving it a shot, mostly if you enjoy simple, cute games, or if you're a cat lover.
If you want to kill time, this game would be a good one to try out, its cute and also has a decent soundtrack to keep you engaged. It's got more room for improvements when regards to depth and variety, but it's still a quick escape to the cat world. I'd give it about a 7.5 overall.
