crash boom

Your spaceship malfunctions and you manage to get into an escape pod just before it blows up.  Crashing into the ocean, your life pod is a bit broken, but you have survived.

You awaken to a fire, and alarms going off..

Managing to escape an exploding ship, a fire in the life pod, you climb out and start to get your bearings..

A vast open alien ocean is before you, and your still burning ship.

Time to dive in and see what you can salvage, swim around and check out all the different biomes...

Even at night, there is plenty to look at in the ocean.

There are many tools and menus to get you started...

Once you have scavenged some materials from the ocean you can use the replicator to make new tools, items, and even cook your food!

Once you have collected the different blueprints, you can finally build some helpful tools.

The scanner lets you well.. scan in new species, items, and also scan broken objects to add them to your blueprints folder. When it doubt? See if it scans...lol

The Cutting tool can also be very helpful on your hunt for new things.

The radio gives you missions and more information about what happened.

It will open markers for you to get to the other life pods, and collect the PDAs scattered around.

The many menus in your PDA are very helpful for any information or questions you may have. You can also find your inventory, which blue prints you have unlocked, your animal encyclopedia, and all the data on the lost PDAs you collect.

There are so many different creatures in this game, as well as plants that are unlike anything I have seen before.  They are all beautifully done all with their own personalities.

Some can be very helpful.

But not all of them are friendly.

You can eventually unlock the Mobile Vehicle Bay..

This allows you to build several different vehicles that will help you go faster, and deeper than before.

Another thing that doesn't have a marker on it either, so try to remember where you parked it.

The base builder tool allows you to build all sorts of items for your new habitat.  You can scan different items around the world and in the water to open up new blueprints. The blueprints tell you the recipe ingredients and you must collect them to start building.

There are so many different items to collect, things to experiment with, and machines to make your life easier.  Have fun finding the resources needed and seeing what each thing does!

There are many items you can find to scan just about everywhere, for hints you can hold the scanner in your hand and a message will pop up for scanable items.

Experiment with planters as well, you never know what could come in handy.

The only problem I have with habitats, is they don't show up as a marker, you would need to use a beacon to locate the spot again.  That is a big ocean, and I have lost habitats before!

Beware though, your habitat has its limitations, and you might find yourself running around repairing things while they fill with water!

There are different events that happen as well, these events open up areas that would have otherwise been sealed before.  But some come with drastic consequences.

Beacons are great to carry to locate different spots again, you can rename them and they are fairly easy to build.  Once you find all the pieces..

Overall I highly enjoyed this game, the many different modes keep things interesting.  The creative mode helped me learn how things work in survival, making the game much more interesting.  There are a few things I wish were different, and it really is a resource hog in my computer.  But Many hours of exploring and base building make up for that entirely.  The game is beautiful and the creatures run smoothly on any setting.  I would recommend this game to a friend, and will spend many more hours playing and collecting achievements.

Score 8 out of 10

Beautiful graphics, both above water and under. The sound effects fit perfectly to the environments, and the different biomes are really unique. The music adds to the moods, and predators will let you know by nipping at you.

Its not really laid out, but you have crash landed on a alien planet. Listen to your radio messages to find out what happened to the other survivors. Its really slow going but interesting once things start to play out. Explore the areas to find out more.

The game is easy to control, and all the buttons are listed. Its smooth in the character movements from water to the surface.

I had to turn down all the settings to low to stop it from crashing on my PC. But if you can max out the settings I highly recommend it because it is beautiful.
