Alien Isolation

Robots, Humans, ALIENS! OH MY!

In 2137, 15 years after the disappearance of the Nostromo, Amanda Ripley, daughter of Ellen Ripley, is approached by the android Christopher Samuels of the Weyland-Yutani corporation. Samuels informs her that the flight recorder of the Nostromo was recently located by a ship named the Anesidora and is being held aboard Sevastopol, a remote space station owned by the Seegson Corporation, in orbit around the gas giant KG-348. He offers her a place on the Weyland-Yutani team sent to retrieve it so that she can have closure regarding the fate of her missing mother. Ripley, Samuels, and Weyland-Yutani executive Nina Taylor travel to Sevastopol on board the courier ship Torrens, owned by captain Diane Verlaine. The group arrives at Sevastopol to find the station damaged and its communications offline.

You must find out what happened.

However, getting aboard the damaged space station might be a problem..

Sevastopol
lets do this

When you so gracefully enter the space station, its time to look around and get your bearings.  Start collecting crafting materials, and locate an emergency station to save.

Time to save your game.   These Emergency stations are posted around the space station. Save often, but beware.

save

Maps are important. The space station is very big and the levels arent locked down to allow for maximum sneaking. Update your maps often. You will do a lot of map following in this game.

Finding blueprints for craftable items are rare.

Keep an eye out. There are tools, materials, and other items to help you.

You will need to craft items to distract, scare off, and damage any enemies you may come across. You will also need tools to get through blocked areas as well.

Be quiet, distract, and craft items to sneak around the different levels.  There are many items to collect so you can build things to help you outsmart your enemies.

Start exploring the ships areas around you, but be remember to be vigilant. Be very quiet, and beware of shining that flashlight around everywhere.

where am I?

Even though it's dark and quiet in here... YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

uhhhhhh

Not everyone is friendly aboard the Sevastopol, you quickly realize that it's "ALL ABOUT SURVIVAL". It's best to avoid people until you are really sure they are safe. Avoid killing any humans, they are just trying to survive too.

This is also where you learn very quickly that the humans are not your only threat. An alien roams around level to level hunting you..  Psychotic robots also guard and stalk through levels. Beware.

Hiding is only ever a temporary option.

There are many places to hide..  Some not as quiet as others. Beware of trapping yourself.

Just remember..

You are not the only one hiding, and hunting.

Drool dripping from ceilings means danger.

Avoid danger.

BE QUIET.

Average Joes with light eyes can sometimes be helpful, but beware.

You will eventually find helpful characters....

helpful

These helpful characters will usually have weapons and tools that will help you through the game. Blocked areas will be opened and often times there will be plenty of crafting materials.

BEWARE - well stocked rooms often mean danger is coming.

Ammo is rare in this game, use as sparingly as you can. Hiding and sneaking are your best options for survival.

I.D. Tags of the missing will be scattered through the entire game.  Collect these to find out what happened to them.

There are also computer stations and tape recorders scattered around to listen to different peoples logs to find out what was going on.

Computer stations often have mission crucial information, are used to activate doors and more.

Shared folders often explain what was going on, have audio log files, and codes to open doors.

Finding out what people knew, where they were went things went crazy, and where things are hidden.

Rewire panels are posted on walls amongst the ship as well. Some can be very useful in missions, and some can be incredibly helpful against enemies.

You will eventually come across some tools to make your survival a bit easier.

The motion detector is your best friend, it can help you spot hidden threats, and where threats are when you are hidden.

The Alien A.I. is very smart, it is also MUCH faster than you.  Running gets you no where fast. Try to break line of sight and hide.  Sprinting is noisy, and beware of items around you that could make noises as well.

Tail

Hiding too long can also get you found, after all.  Aliens fit very well in vents too.

Distract, and learn to sneak.  Try to keep moving.

You are a living thing that breathes, that desk cant save you forever.

This game is beautifully done.  There is a sense of urgency, and anxiety with this game.  Having the Alien creature completely indestructible and incredibly smart makes the levels of scary up to max.  Plenty of jump scares, smart AI, and unpredictable enemies make it scary but fun. The level of details in the ship and the environment are astonishing. You can almost smell the oil and blood, and taste the grit of sand in your teeth.

Having Missions on other ships, outside the station in the E.V.A. suits, you get quite the view of everything.

Once you have played through the game, you will notice that it is never really the same twice. Hiding in different spots, or seeing new people can happen depending on where you go through the game.

Once you have completed all the game missions, you can purchase and download a TON of DLC through Steam.

Steam also offers many achievements for the game,  which are rather difficult to achieve. But not impossible. Once you have completed each mission they are open for replay, this is can prove to be helpful getting the ones you missed during the first play through.

Quiet is the key here.  Distract, avoid, and fight when you have to.   Alarms, player noise, fighting, and light can call the Aliens attention. So beware.

Checking computer terminals, and use rewire stations to your advantage here.

The xenomorph is a ruthless killer, who is faster, and deadlier than anything on that station.  Be prepared to die, and often.  It can be very frustrating at times to repeat levels especially when the A.I. is random and very very smart. But keep trying!

I don't want to get into any more details, I think I might have given too much away all ready.  This game is best played with headphones on, with little distractions, in a darkened room.  Sometimes certain missions take forever to get through. Sometimes it just pure luck..

This game starts pretty slow and gets rather crazy at times.  The amount of claustrophobia in certain places is intense.  It definitely makes you paranoid and panicky. I did scream my head off a few times.. So it does have it's scary moments. Lots of jumpscares and the A.I. is fun to try to trick. Even if it did scare me quite a few times.

A lot of the achievements are story line based. But if you are a collector, you might want to go check them out ahead of time to better prepare for them.  A few feel nearly impossible for me.

This game has 18 different missions and is quite the challenge!

Can you Survive??

Score 10 out of 10

Ran smoothly on my system. Didn't take too long to load anything.

The game starts 15 years into the future after the Nostromo went missing. You play as Amanda Ripley who has been informed that the Anesidora has found the flight recorder and its being held on the Sevastapol Space Station by the Seegson Corporation. You board the Torrens and head to the station. But once you get there, everyone notices that something is terribly WRONG. Game starts off pretty slow, but gets pretty intense. Find hits and clues through out the game to find out whats happening.

Original voice actors, recreations of scenes and places are amazing. The attention to detail in this game is outstanding. From the way the characters move around to the foreshadowing music that lets you know when things are really going to be intense. I recommend headphones, the surround sound of it all makes it so much more fun. Little distractions as well. Horror movie fun 100%

There are two modes to play, and different difficulty levels. Game starts slow so you can learn the controls. Most menus have the controls listed as things change for different things. You'll notice searchable, and interactive items by glowing lights, or flashing areas. Some things are also listed in the maps. I fumbled around with the controls in a few places, and the menus are all different.

There are so many DLC expansions to buy for this game. Plus the different modes, and the difficulties make this game one you wont stop playing for awhile.

PROS / CONS

  • Beautiful Cinematics and attention to details.
  • Lots of Achievements to collect.
