This one is a shooter from 2002. Set in alternative history in which WW2 didn't not in 1945 instead it continue on and on. If you want to read lore to the specific wiki, I'll just say that Baron Ugenberg wanted the Russian Empire back and unification of Europe... all of it. And he plans to make nukes in order to achieve his goals.
Anyway we play as James Anderson a war Orphan that only wants peace from war. James is a soldier of United States of Western Europe. If course he's talented soldier that why he got picked by Colonel Patrick Mitchell of secret service known as "The Consortium". That's how the story starts.
As I said it is a shooter in which toy can switch between 1st person and 3rd person mode. Personally I never picked 3rd person. Just play it as old school shooter. You have 6 long and excruciating levels you must suffer through in order to grasp a little bit of what's going on. Granted if you a pro at Quake, Unreal or even Counter Strike 1.6 you most likely won't suffer as much as an average 1st person schmuck like me. Yes AI in this game is brutal, dunno about easy as I played on normal. Believe e it has a fair share of "Asshair tearing moment".
Let's start with minuses. Game's from 2002 so graphics may not be so appealing to you, plus it quite unforgiving in terms of difficulty. Enemies will hit scan you, notice you from across the universe when you show an atom of your body from a corner, and snipers will make you melt in powerless wrath as you die for 20th times unable to tell where are you being shot at from. Also it has quite convoluted and obscure paths to find. You'll spent big chunk of your time wondering the classic "WHERE THE FUCK DO I GO!". Word of advice learn how to stick to windowsills and rails. Uses quick save a lot and one or two manual saves. Also most of levels have around 1 alternative way to reach your goal. What else, there are few bugs and I encountered only 2 of them which is not bad imo. RIGHT! nearly forgot there is a stealth mission and surrender all your weapons mission which is a minus too.
My favorite part! Dakkas! You have a small arsenal the sorting of it a bit wonky. You have a shoise between 2 pistols, 1 silenced and another in MP. You also have a saber, sniper rifle, a pump shotgun, several types of grenades, mines and slot for one heavy weapon. There are heavy machine gun, grenade launcher, mini rocket launcher, bazooka, semi automatic mid/long range rifle with a scope and an improves full automatic version of that rifle which is also nearly 2 times smaller is size but gold 5 times the ammo in one magazine.
Grenades: regular ones, one that splits in several small ones, poison grenade, hallucination gas grenade and anti-tank mine.
You restore HP by picking up med bags scattered around the levels. Sometime game can be stingy about amount of them, so either don't get shot or wait till you hurt more to pick it up.
Enemies. Not many types of them in here. Regular army folk, officers, dogs, shahid dog, heavy armor troops, and spec ops. There are also ceiling turrets, but they are nearly indestructible and you only must fight two of them, rest can be deactivated or avoided. There are also about 4 tank that you'll destroy on your way and several battle helicopters. One that will give you the most trouble are snipers, heavy troops with mini rocket launchers and dogs with a mine.
What else, while levels can be painful to navigate I liked the aesthetics of it. The plot is okay and there is a multiplayer. It would be also lovely if there was also story for Russo-Mongolian Empire not just Unites Stated of Western Europe. You know just like in Front Mission with OCU and UCS.
Anyway it is old school shooter with its flaws and good sides. So play at your own risk, I liked it even after I raged at it a lot. Thanks for your time.
